EMPLOYMENT AFTER RETIREMENT
1.
Purpose
The district shall retain the services of retired employees only if there are no
qualified, interested individuals to fill such positions. The positions referenced in
this policy shall include Extra Pay for Extra Duty (EPFED), Coaching, Subject Area
Coordinators, and Intramural Instructors.
2.
Guidelines
The district shall annually post the positions upon the retirement of individual
employees who previously occupied those positions as supplemental to their
employment by the district. In the event that no qualified candidate indicates a desire
to be appointed to one of these positions, then the current individual may be retained
by the district on an emergency basis within the limits permitted by the Pennsylvania
School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS). If a position should be filled by a
retiree, the position shall then be posted annually.
Under no circumstances will individuals be retained for Extra Pay for Extra Duty
(EPFED), Coaching, Subject Area Coordinators, and Intramural Instructors if their
retention will in any way jeopardize their retirement benefits.
