207.  CONFIDENTIAL COMMUNICATIONS OF STUDENTS
1.
Purpose
The Board recognizes that certain written and oral communications between students
and school personnel must be confidential.
2.
Authority
The Board directs school personnel to comply with all federal and state laws,
regulations and Board policy concerning confidential communications of students.
3.
Guidelines

Information received in confidence from a student may be revealed by the staff
member who received the information when the health, welfare or safety of the
student or other persons clearly is in jeopardy.

Use of a student's confidential communications to school personnel in legal
proceedings is governed by statutes and regulations appropriate to the proceedings.

Delegation of
Responsibility
In qualifying circumstances, a staff member may reveal confidential information to
the building principal and other appropriate authorities.
In qualifying circumstances, the building principal may reveal confidential
information to a student's parent/guardian and other appropriate authorities,
including law enforcement personnel.
